Five minutes into a mortgage application I know a lot of very personal information about a new client. Legal name, marital status, social security number, income and assets and that’s just the beginning of the process. With much of the work in the mortgage business happening behind the scenes, it’s even more important to me that my clients have a familiarity with me, my staff and my company. So I’m turning the tables and sharing some personal information about myself with you. I have been married to my wonderful wife Kristin since 1996 and we have two children. Both my children attend Immaculate Heart of Mary Elementary School in Grand Rapids where my wife Kristin also teaches. I graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School and graduated Western Michigan University. In 2001, I made a major career change and decided to become a mortgage loan officer. My first year in the industry I witnessed a lot of the industry practices I didn’t agree with and I knew the only way to create significant changes was to start my own business. Treadstone Mortgage was started in 2002 with my longtime friend Brendan O’Driscoll. Business took off in large part because of our commitment to excellent customer service and sound financial advice to each and every client. My partner and I have worked hard to surround ourselves with a top-notch support staff that share the same philosophy about customer service as we do. In 2009, we found the perfect partner in AmeriFirst Financial Corporation and Treadstone Funding – Residential Mortgage Lender was created. Amerifirst shared our vision of common sense lending. Meaning we only use local appraisers and local underwriters, our clients have names not numbers. As a group we employ over 200 full time employees in Michigan, something Brendan and I are really proud of. We have worked hard to become the trusted local lender. As a life long resident of Grand Rapids, it is important to me to be an active part of the exciting revitalization of the city of Grand Rapids and one of the reasons our office is headquartered in the heart of downtown. I am an active real estate investor and an avid sports fan. I enjoy coaching both my sons in football and lacrosse. Golf and fishing are my two great passions, I use them to refresh and recharge. I look forward to working with you and having the opportunity to show you why Treadstone continues to be head and shoulders above the rest.
